BSA - Update

The Oklahoma City Redhawks finished the season with a strong 100-62 record finishing in 2nd place behind a strong Regina team in the Continental League Central Division.  The first round opponent for the Redhawks was Greenville.  Greenville were the winners of the Continental League East Division with a 97-65 record.

OKC managed to win game 1 by scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th to win 8-7.  The turning point of the series felt by most fans of the BSA was in game 2 in OK.  OKC led 1-0 going to the top of the 9th after 1B slugger Raul Gonzalez went deep in the 7th.  Future HOF superstar Martin Griffin took the mound and didn't get the job done as Greenville scored 4 runs and held on for the 4-1 win in game 2 to tie the series 1-1.  A key play in this game was an error by future HOF Kyuso Fujita catcher in the 9th that allowed the flood gates to open.  GM Goldberg said after the game, "we had our chance to take control of this series heading to Greenville and we let it slip away".  The scene then shifted to Game 3 in Greenville.  In Game 3 it was similar to Game 1 except this time there would be no comeback from OKC.  Greenville won 4-2 to lead the series 2-1.  In Game 4 and a must win game for OKC, Salvador Perez easily our best SP all year got rocked in the 1st inning giving up 3 runs and Greenville blasted Oklahoma City 9-0 to lead the series 3-1.  OKC had their backs against the wall in Game 5 desparately trying to get the series back to OK.  Ross Holley just didn't get the job done.  Greeville jumped out early yet again with a 5-0 lead and held on for a 8-5 win  and thus took the series easily at 4-1.  Most of the BSA experts predicted a 7 game series with most feeling the experience and depth of OKC would give them the slight edge.  This is why Vegas is Vegas my friends, anything and everything can happen in the BSA.  A big congratulations to John Bosma for not only winning his very first BSA playoff game but, winning this series in convincing fashion.

A reflection of the series:
Kyuso Fujita batted .188, Steve Robinson batted .125, Martin Griffin blew his only save opportunity and the SP just didn't show up.

There are strong indications coming from this camp that major changes are ahead.
